You can now visit your local Blooms The Chemist in Victoria for a Travel Healthcare Consultation if you're travelling overseas.
Some Blooms The Chemist pharmacies in Victoria are joining the Community Pharmacist Pilot and offering a new service, which is the travel healthcare consultation.
The travel healthcare consultation allows trained Pharmacists to provide travel advice, administer travel specific vaccines and offer healthcare services that are needed for the purposes of travel.
The current Pilot is only available for people heading overseas and not travelling around Australia.
What is the Travel Healthcare consultation?
The Travel Healthcare consultation is where your Pharmacist will give you personalised and tailored advice and recommend vaccinations that may protect you while you’re travelling overseas.
Your consultation will be done in a private room, so you are able to speak to your Pharmacist freely about any vaccinations or health concerns you may have.
Your Pharmacist will ask you a range of healthcare questions and assess your individual health risk that you have while travelling overseas.
You’ll also receive personalised and exact advice on health risks, vaccinations you may need and travel health products that are tailored to your specific destination.

Can I access this service?
This service is not available to everyone, as some people have complex health needs and will need to speak to their GP, travel medicine practitioner or other healthcare provider, for further information. Some people who aren’t eligible for this service includes:
• People under the age of five
• People who are immunocompromised or immunosuppressed
• People who have a complex medical history
• People who are breastfeeding
• If you're travelling to a mass gathering (including a religious pilgrimage)
• If you're travelling on a cruise ship

How much does this consultation cost?
For travel healthcare consultations and other vaccinations, Blooms the Chemist pharmacies will charge a consultation fee.
You will also be charged the cost of any vaccines given for a travel health or other vaccination consultation.
The cost of the consultation and the vaccines may vary between pharmacies.
Our pharmacists will be clear and discuss all fees with you before starting the consultation and before giving any vaccines.
Do I need to bring anything for this consultation?
Yes, you do. Please bring your Medicare card and any information about the medications you are taking.
Do I need to book an appointment?
