Can I access this service?

The service offered is a consultation with participating Pharmacists who will decide what treatment is appropriate for your skin condition.

If you are not eligible for a skin consultation, as assessed by the Pharmacist, you will be referred to a GP or other healthcare professional as appropriate. This can be in cases where the application of medicine is not considered safe or appropriate.

In Victoria, you can receive book a skin conditions consultation if you are over the age of 18 and are experiencing symptoms.

You may be treated for the following skin conditions1:

• Shingles, which can cause a painful and blistering rash as well as a tingling and burning sensation on the skin

• A flare up of mild plaque psoriasis, which means you can speak to a participating Pharmacist to check if you can get a resupply of your ointment or cream

In NSW, you can be treated for the following skin conditions at the following ages2:

• Impetigo (school sores), if you’re 12 months old or above

How much does this consultation cost?

The cost will vary between pharmacies, but our Pharmacists will be clear and discuss all fees with you before starting the consultation.

In both states, you will not have to pay for the consultation, but you will need to pay for the cost of the medicine you receive as part of your treatment.
