General Product Description

Bacterial vaginosis is a common type of vaginal infection cuased by the overgrowth of bacteria called Gardnerella Vaginalis, naturally found in the vagina. When this happens the pH of the vagina increases. Testing the vaginal pH provides an indication that bacterial, fungal or trichomonas infection may be present and require further treatment. 

 

Bacterial vaginosis can affect women of any age but is most common in those of reproductive age.

Common symptoms include:

  • Thin vaginal discharge that may be grey, whiye or green
  • "Fishy" vaginal odour
  • Vaginal itch
  • Burning on urination

Half of all women with bacterial vaginosis do not have symptoms.

Directions for Use

  1. Collect vaginal sercretions using the swab- 5cm inside the vagina for about 10 seconds
  2. Apply the head of the swab onto the the pH area of the test panel at least 5 times
  3. Read the results immediately while the test zone is still wet

Warnings

Always read and follow the directions for use. Even if your pH is in normal range you should consult your doctor is you are experiencing sysmptoms. Bacterial vaginosis can be sexually transmitted. If you have recently been intimate with a new partner you might want to test for common sexually transmitted diseases or attend a sexual health clinic.
